HDPE landfill liner is the cost effective and anti-seepage material used for landfills, water containment and waste containment applications. Manila is the capital of the Philippines and the most densely populated city. It is the most populous area in the country and one of the most populous urban areas in the world. The urban population is approximately 1.8 million, and Metro Manila has a population of over 13 million. With such a large population, solid waste disposal is a major challenge in Manila, and improper waste disposal will cause health hazards and serious environmental impacts. Under this condition, the construction of landfill become a vital issue for the local government civil engineering projects

1 Why Choose HDPE Liner Philippines for Landfill Project?

In order to solve the problem of waste disposal in Manila, the government put a bid for landfill project to build a large waste landfill to accommodate the municipal solid waste. The local contractor got our contact from a local partner and communicate with our company and hoped that we could provide a complete construction material plan based on the landfill capacity design. After discussion and the design, in waterproofing material part, We provided customers with design suggestions of geomembrane, geosynthitec clay liners, geonet, geotextile system.

2. HDPE Landfill Liner Philippines Applications

Synthetic polymers generally chose the high-density Polyethylene liner and some use PVC geomembrane liner;

Geotextiles (relatively permeable) are used as the function of separation and filtration.

Geonets is substituted for sand or gravel, it is very high transmissivitya and low storage.

And the typical design guidelines should be compacted to 95% of maximum density and slope is 2 – 25% or 1V:4H and Soil must be rock free.

Secondary liner as the final protection between waste and environment also chose the HDPE landfill liner.

Leachate detection zone must rapidly detect, collect and transmit liquid to a collection system and the function without clogging using geonet contain a perforated piping system at least wrapped in a geotextile.

And as the most vital part in landfill, geomembrane plays the most important role and our team suggested double layer waterproofing design. HDPE geomembrane liner has excellent acid and alkali resistance and can well isolate pollutants from penetrating into the ground. The geosynthitec clay liners, as the spare alternative, the GCL can swell automatically and fix the hole when geomembrane is leak under the outside pressure or destroy. The combination of the two materials can achieve a more ideal anti-seepage effect.

And considering the liner landfill liner importance in whole system, the welding testing is the main steps to avoid leakage.

3. Landfill Geomembrane Liner Philippines Onsite Testing

In the data and onsite experience, 20% of leaks were in the side slopes at sites tested. And 87% of leaks were at the seams and only 13% in parent material from dropped tools and cigarette burns

The main methods are available for leak detection by visual inspection, pressure or vacuum testing of seams and electric leak detection.

Through continuous communication with customers and providing our previous construction cases, installation solutions, customer finally agreed with our plan, and we provide construction materials

Customers had high requirements for geomembrane product quality. We sent samples to customers for testing, and the test results met customer requirements. During the production process, a third-party inspection company was required to enter the factory to check the product quality, and finally all products were approved by the projects

5. Benifits of HDPE Liner Philippines for Landfill Projects

HDPE landfill liner is the ideal geotechnical material widely used to control odor and reduce the generation of leachate of waste. The choice of land cover line is very important for environmental protection. HDPE geomembrane landfill liner has the advantages of good durability and low permeability, it is widely used in the anti-seepage structure at the bottom of landfills. According to research, the landfill cover liner takes decades or even hundreds of years to completely purify the pollutants produced by garbage degradation. This means that the geomembrane landfill cover, which is an important part of the anti-seepage layer, needs to have a long service life to prevent the penetration of pollutants; therefore, the degradation characteristics of HDPE geomembrane liner is of great significance to the pollution and seepage prevention of landfills.

  • Excellent chemical resistance.
  • Outstanding stress crack capacity.
  • Excellent UV resistance.
  • Complete width and thickness specifications.

Geosynthitec Clay Liners are high performance needle punched environmental reinforced composites which combine two durable geotextile outer layers with a uniform core of natural sodium bentonite clay to form a hydraulic barrier. And widely used in waste landfill capping, mining base seals, lake and other waterproofing projects.
